YOPD – Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease, a form of Parkinson’s disease (PD) diagnosed in people under the age of 50, with some sources specifying 21 to 40 years old. It shares symptoms with late-onset Parkinson’s but often presents with more dystonia (muscle cramps and abnormal postures) and levodopa-related motor complications, potentially with a slower progression of other symptoms. YOPD can be a challenging diagnosis due to its impact on family, work, and social life, and it is also more often linked to a genetic cause.
